Dharma Master Zongxing

Master Zongxing was born in Tongnan, Chongqing city in 1973. Since becoming a monk, he has studied in Chongqing, Sichuan, Beijing and other places for ten years and graduated from the graduate class of China Buddhist Academy. In 2001, he was invited to Chengdu Wenshu Monastery to preach dharma. In 2003, he was appointed the abbot of Wenshu Monastery. In 2010, he took the office as the vice President and the Provost of China Buddhist Academy.

The master has devoted himself to the spread of vijbana-vada, the Theory of Consciousness-only, the research of Zen history and dharma propagation. He has been invited to give lectures on sutras, dharma and Buddhism in universities, organizations, institutions and training agencies both home and abroad. The masterundefineds enlightenment speaking is vivid and humorous. He also wrote and published several collection of his essays.

1990Year

Be the formal monk at the tonsure ceremony presided by Master Zhiyi in Chengdu Zhaojue Temple.
1991Year

Till July 1992, he studied in Chongqing Buddhist Academy and received enlightening education of Buddhist knowledge.
1991Year

He took the commandmentby Master Qingding in Chengdu Zhaojue Temple. During this period, he learned and mastered some Buddhist skills such as reciting, Sanskrit chanting, and rituals. Those are helpful for him to become a qualified monk.
1992Year

Till July 1994, he studied in Sichuan Buddhist Academy, where he learned Consciousness-only and was interested in it very much.
1994Year

Till July 1998, he studied in the undergraduate class of China Buddhist Academy. During this period, he accepted the education of Chinese Buddhist denominations systematically and was familiar with the history and doctrines of various denominations. Meanwhile, he continued to study Consciousness-only and profited greatly from it.
1998Year

Till July 2001, he studied as a graduate student in China Buddhist Academy, studied the history of Zen, accepted the standardized academic training, and studied the bibliography and edition of Buddhism systematically.
2001Year

Master Zongxing was invited to Wenshu Monastery for the promotion of Dharma and Buddhist education. With his effort, Dharma preaching has been intensified and Buddha Dharma has been rejuvenated. He widely developed the ways of preaching Dharma with network, magazine and other modern media. Activities such as Summer camps and Weekly Dharma Propagation are held regularly, the organic integration of tradition and modernity is promoted to spread Buddhism.
2003Year

He assumed the position of abbot in Wenshu Monastery.
2010Year

To present, he is the Member of the China Youth League, the Director of the Buddhist Association China, the Vice-Chairman of the Buddhist Association Sichuan, the Chairman of the Buddhist Association Chengdu, the abbot of Wenshu Monastery, the President of Konglin Buddhist Academy, the Permanent Member of the Committee of CPPCC Sichuan, the Permanent Member of the committee of the Peopleundefineds Congress Chengdu,the Vice Chairman of the Youth Federation Chengdu, etc.
